Me Challenge - Using Up Kits

This past weekend, I brought a thermos of tea into my craft room.  One of the cats immediately upended the entire thing into a 3-drawer stand conveniently made of wire .  This meant that not only did the top drawer get wet, the contents of all three got a lovely coating of sugary, milky tea as it drained down.  Mmmmmmm.....

All of my store-bought card kits were in the second drawer and got soaked.  I managed to salvage a few sets that I've had for about 5 years (yeah, I buy them, I didn't say I use them).  I really don't know why I bought them, they're pretty horrible and, according to the wet label, $1 each.  Somebody owes me $2.

Anyway, I salvaged the contents, but not the boxes or sample photos so I decided to challenge myself - I'd try to make the cards using only the contents.  Here's a photo of all the parts - omg, what are those horrible puffy hearts and tiny little bows?!

The cards were all super shiny and the glitter on the embellishments was pretty thick and peeling on more than half of them.

I ended up breaking my own rules by adding my own ribbon, some flowers and a few sequins because I couldn't get the puffy hearts to work and there wasn't any ribbon beyond the bows.

Overall, I think they look pretty good - I got 12 usable cards out of 16.

Thanks for looking!

Heeeeeeere's Chriss

So, I've been on a crafting sabbatical for quite a while; I wasn't feeling inspired by anything I saw and decided to take a break.  I've still been creating off and on and realized that a lot of what I wanted to do was cute and nothing like my other art.  What's up with that?

Since bunnies and unicorns didn't seem to fit the theme I had going over at Got a Sunset in My Veins, I decided to do another blog.  That way I don't feel particularly disloyal to either genre.

Yay, I'm back!
